Carlotta Corpron: Photography and Light

Artist and educator, Carlotta Corpron (1901-1988) is the subject of one of the current exhibitions at the Meadows Museum.  Process and Innovation:  Carlotta Corpron and Janet Turner, on view through June 5, 2016, presents the art of two women who worked as both artists and professors at separate Texan universities during the twentieth century.   Highly experimental, both artists would come into their maturity of style in their respective media of photography and printmaking while teaching in Texas. Texas Artists digital collection recognized by global library collaborative

The Texas Artists: Paintings, Sculpture, and Works on Paper (“Texas Artists”) digital collection was recently featured the global library collaborative OCLC’s website. Texas Artists is one of Central University Libraries’ (CUL) 48 digital collections, available on the CUL Digital Collections website. CUL Digital Collections contain some 50,000 digitized images of works of art, manuscripts, imprints, and audio-visual materials from CUL’s special collections. OCLC.org, a global library cooperative of academic and public libraries, selected Texas Artists as one of its CONTENTdm Featured Collections for November.

From the House of Alba to the House of Hamon: exhibition resources at the Hamon Arts Library

I have been waiting for an exhibition like this for a while now. After four years as an Art History student researching old masters such as Diego Velasquez and Fra Angelico, I finally had the chance to see their work up close! The Treasures from the House of Alba: 500 Years of Art and Collecting exhibition at the Meadows Museum offers viewers a glimpse into five centuries of art collecting on behalf of the prominent Spanish aristocratic Alba family. This magnificent private collection features rare paintings, tapestries, books and more ranging from the fifteenth to the twenty century.
